Anam Care and Satori Pathway has long served the seniors of the Rockford area, offering memory care in a homelike setting, and independent living homes with support for seniors. Now, Anam has launched a new project to offer services to a group who too often gets lost in the senior housing conversation: middle-income seniors.
Next to Anam Care’s existing homes in Cherry Valley, the company is building a new set of apartments specifically built for middle-income seniors. The two buildings will add an additional seven apartments for seniors whose annual income ranges between $40,000 and $75,000.
There is a growing segment of seniors who don’t have enough money to pay for senior housing at market rate, but have too much money to qualify for government programs that could help with housing. This middle group is exactly who Anam will serve with the new set of apartments.
Special attention has been shown to the design of each apartment to meet the needs of seniors. Doorway widths are large enough to accommodate a wheelchair or walker. Door handles are levers, not knobs, so they’re easier for arthritic hands to operate. Bathrooms are barrier-free, minimizing fall risk, and each unit comes with a full kitchen, garage parking and a patio.
Anam Care’s services, like housekeeping, transportation and meals, will be available to people living in the new apartments. Outside of the usual hospitality services, nursing visits, case management and emergency care services are also available.
The new apartments are slated to be ready by early summer of 2026.
