Mo Cara is proud to be a locally-owned business serving the people of the Rockford region. As proud members of the community we serve, it’s important to us to help those who have helped build Rockford into the community we love.
Part of the reason why it’s so important for us is that our leaders have deep roots in the Rockford community. Having grown up in Rockford, Bernie Marinelli started her career here as a nurse. After years of serving in that role with elderly patients in the Rockford area, CEO Bernie Marinelli decided she wanted to give care to seniors in a setting as comfortable as their own homes. She founded Anam Care, an Alzheimer’s and dementia-focused facility in Cherry Valley.
“I believe Rockford’s elderly deserve to live a life of quality and choice. After years of working and giving to our communities, families, business and culture, I believe we can and should offer centers of care that can keep their lives as normal as possible,” Marinelli said.
Since then, the company has grown to create Satori Pathway, to help guide families whose loved one needs care, and Mo Cara Hospice, to assist loved ones on life’s final passage.
Stuart Gaines, Mo Cara’s CFO, was born and raised in Rockford. Even after his career took him to Wisconsin and Florida, Stuart returned to Rockford to serve as the CFO of Rockford Clinic. His work with Anam Care, Satori Pathway and Mo Cara come from a sense of duty to his community.
“I care about the Rockford region because it’s my community. I’m proud of where I come from, and I owe it to the seniors who live here to give them grace and dignity in their final years,” Gaines said.
